Sangkulirang The Most Exotics Natural and Cultural of East Kutai Karstic Area

This book aim to share the excotics and importance of Sangkulirang karst mountain complex. Nowadays, the biggest threat of course the utilization of karts-rock, and unmanageble water resources. And if this karts-com-plex could not preserve, it willl misfortune for next generation, and become well known as catasthrope distric.

Like most equatorial regions, karst areas Sangkulirang affected with bimodial season, which has two peaks of the rainy season. The peak usually occurs around March and October. Even this area have 300 days rainy season all the year. But in the Sangkulirang, actually the rain is more at the karst-mountains, and at coastline tends to be less rain. That phenomena, show the importance of karst mountain for cost area. Water 'saved' in the pores of the karst, and released slowly into the main rivers that flow toward the coast-Sangkulirang.
